Winning combinations
The basic rules of Dawn of Egypt are very simple. Winning payouts are primarily provided by three or more identical standard symbols landing on any of the 10 paylines.
Here is an overview of the payouts provided by these symbols:
- Jack, Queen, King, and Ace- All four of these playing card symbols provide the same range of payouts. You can win 0.5x, 1x, or 5x your original stake when you land three or more identical ones on a single payline.
- Lotus flower and Ankh - Both of these symbols pay out 1x, 2.5x, or 10x your wager.
- Scorpion and snake - Dangerous and terrifying in real life, but exciting symbols in the game, both of these creatures pay out 20x your stake when you land five of them at once. The scorpion will pay 1x, or 4x your stake when you land three or four of it. The snake is slightly more valuable with fewer symbols, paying out 1.5x or 6x with three or four symbols.
- Bastet - As the second-most valuable standard symbol, the god Bastet pays out 2x, 10x, or 40x your original wager.
- Horus - The ancient Egyptian god of the sky, Horus, pays out a valuable 100x your stake with five of him across the reels. You can also win 4x, or 20x your stake with three or four of this symbol.
Free spins feature
Landing three or more scatter symbols during the Dawn of Egypt base game unlocks a free spins round. Before the round beings, you’ll be shown the Wheel of the Gods and this will decide the number of bonus spins that you’ll play with.
The free spins feature can begin with a maximum of 20 spins, however, that’s not all that you’ll get during this bonus. With every new free spin, all high-value symbols will be randomly upgraded.
This bonus feature will also unlock the slot’s third special symbol, the wild scatter. Just like the wild in the base game, this symbol substitutes for any standard game symbol and provides a payout of up to 100x your stake when it forms part of a winning combination.

Releasing another slot that featured the Egyptian theme is a risk for any game developer. This theme is one of the most common, so Play’n Go had a tough road ahead to make Dawn of Egypt stand out. In our humble opinion, I think they’ve aced it.
The slot plays out like most other video slots, offering above-average standard payouts and good looking symbols and animations. However, the game transforms when the free spins bonus is unlocked, providing upgraded symbols, retrigger opportunities and the introduction of a powerful wild scatter.
