If you’ve played either European, American, or French Roulette before, you’ve probably already heard of Roulette call bets. These are optional wagers that are different from the typical inside or outside bets found in most games.

You will find possible Roulette call bets, or announced bets, on the table. These bets are normally located at the edge and take an elongated oval shape. Due to this shape resembling horse or dog racing tracks, these bets have become known as Roulette racetrack bets.

This wager is based on the six numbers that are closest to and include the zero on either side. Also known as Zero Game, this call bet covers numbers 15, 32, 0, 26, 3, 35, and 12.

This wager requires you to use four chips. It combines three split bets of 0 and 3, 12 and 15, and 32 and 35. The fourth chip is a straight-up bet on 36.

The Roulette table payout from this bet can be as high as 35:1 if the straight-up bet were to win. Winning split bets pay out 17:1.

Tiers du Cylindre

This Roulette call bet combines six split bets to wager on 12 numbers simultaneously. To complete this bet, you need to place split bets on 5 and 8, 10 and 11, 13 and 16, 23 and 24, 27 and 30, and 33 and 36.

The English translation of this call bet is one-third of the wheel. This is, in fact, almost correct, as the European Roulette wheel has a total of 36 numbers In addition to the zero.

Winning any of these bets will pay out 17:1.

Voisins du Zero

The Voisins du Zero call bet groups together 17 numbers using a combination of nine inside bets. To complete this bet, you need to place split bets on 4 and 7, 12 and 15, 18 and 21, 19 and 22, and 32 and 35. In addition, you also need to place a corner bet on 25, 26, 28, and 29, as well as a basket bet on 0, 2, and 3.

This is the most complex Roulette call bet as it requires you to place a total of nine chips.

Payouts from the Voisins du Zero bet range from between 17:1 for a successful split bet to 11:1 or 8:1 for a successful basket or corner bet respectively.

Orphelins

The Orphelins call bet groups together the rest of the numbers on the European Roulette wheel. With this bet, you’ll use five chips to bet on eight numbers.

To complete an Orphelins wager, you need to place split bets on 6 and 9, 14 and 17, 17 and 20, and 31 and 34. You also need to place a single straight-up bet on 1.

Winning a split bet will pay out 17:1, but if you win the straight-up bet, you’ll get a 35:1 prize.

How good are the odds of winning Roulette call bets?

Just like all the other types of wagers, Roulette racetrack bets are based on chance. There is no way to ensure a positive outcome on a particular number.

The European Roulette house edge is calculated as being 2.7%. This means that mathematically speaking, players will lose $2.70 for every $100 wagered. However, in practice, every new spin can end with any number declared as the winner. Moreover, the result of one spin has no impact or influence on the result of future spins.

When crunching the numbers on the four Roulette call bets, we see that Voisins du Zero offers the highest likelihood of winning. The odds of part of this wager winning are a combined 45.9%. Split bets have a 5.4% chance of winning, whilst the basket and corner bets are 8.11% likely to win.

The Tiers du Cylindre bet is the next most likely to win based on probability. This wager comes with odds of 32.4% of winning. These odds are based on the 5.4% chance of winning one of the six split bets that make up this wager.

Even though we left the Orphelins bet last in our explanation, it is the third most likely Roulette call bet to win. This wager has a 24.3% of providing you with a payout. This percentage is a combination of the 5.4% odds of winning a split bet and the 2.7% odds of winning a straight-up bet.

Finally, the Jeu Zero is the least likely to pay out. This bet has odds of 18.9% of winning, and it combines the 5.4% chance of winning split bets with the 2.7% chance of winning the straight-up bet.

Is placing Roulette call bets a good idea?

The short answer is it might be worth trying it. By placing any of these bets, you’re not affecting the overall house edge of European Roulette. However, there are several reasons why so many players opt to include them in their betting strategies.

Roulette table payouts vary widely between inside and outside bets. Whilst the best inside bet provides payouts of 35:1, it is extremely difficult to win. Outside bets provide much greater success rates, but since they can pay out as little as 1:1, winning them will hardly make a difference in a player’s bankroll.

Roulette call bets have a chance of between 45.9% and 18.9% of winning. At the higher end, they approach the winning odds of the least risky outside bets. However, the potential payout from these bets is much higher.

Another popular reason to place Roulette call bets is simple, their entertainment value. Placing the same standard inside or outside bet can quickly get mundane. Roulette racetrack bets offer a fresh alternative focusing on number positions on the wheel rather than the table.

When do I place Roulette call bets online?

4. If and when a bet is won, the betting cycle starts again with the lowest bet.

Let us consider that it takes you five turns to win an even bet. If your first wager was $1, you would have spent a total of $31 by the time you place your fifth bet. This bet would have a value of $16, and if you win it, you’ll receive a payout of $32. This means that you would have made a $1 profit.

As you can see, for the Martingale System to work, you need to use outside bets. This means that Roulette call bets are not well-suited for it or any other major strategy.
